1. Are the donations made to Sukruthi tax deductible?

Yes. All donations made to Sukruthi Charitable Trust are tax exempt under Section 80 G (5) (iv) of the Income Tax Act 1961 with provisional registration number ABBTS8660GF20213 on 13th Nov 2021 for the duration 13-11-2021 to AY 2024-25. 2. Will I receive an Income Tax exemption certificate for me to claim tax benefits?

Certainly! First, we will send the donation acknowledgement receipt within 2 weeks. The Income Tax Exemption Certificate (80G) in prescribed form as per the new Income Tax Rules will be furnished to the donors on or before 31st May, immediately following the financial year in which the donation is received, which will entitle donors to claim income tax exemption for the donation made. Both receipts are valid for residents in India only. As per the Indian Income Tax Authority Rule, a donor is required to add PAN number in case the donor wishes to receive the Donation Acknowledgement Receipt.

3. How much money can I donate to Sukruthi?

It’s totally up to you. No amount of money would be less to help someone. Having said that, we have made it easy for you to decide. Please visit the “Ideas for Giving” section in our web site.

4. Can I donate for a specific cause that is closer to my heart?

Yes. There are quite a few causes that we are supporting from Sukruthi today. You may choose any one of them. And when you donate, if you indicate your preference we will use it only for that particular cause.

5. Why can’t I donate online from your web site? What are the payment modes available?

As of today, the modes of payment that can be used to donate to Sukruthi are either through cheques, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS, UPI or QR code. We have not yet integrated with a payment gateway which would allow you to donate online through our web site. We will be doing that soon.

6. How do you manage / minimize the administrative expenses?

Firstly, there would be some administrative expenses for Sukruthi for sure. But we can assure you that every single rupee you donate goes entirely to the needy people. All administrative expenses are borne by the founders of Sukruthi Charitable Trust.

7. Do you charge / retain any fees for Sukruthi from our donations?

No. We charge zero fees on your donations and the entire amount of your donations are spent on our beneficiaries. We do not retain a single rupee out of your donations for any other purposes than what it is intended for.

8. Can I donate to Sukruthi in any other currencies than Indian Rupees?

Unfortunately, not yet. As of today, all donations made to Sukruthi should be in Indian Rupees only.

9. How do you manage the privacy of your beneficiaries?

One of the core values of Sukruthi is Respect. We are committed to treating the people and organizations with whom we work with fairness, dignity and respect. Nothing is published on the website without the written consent of the patient. We seek explicit permission from each patient before we share their details on our web site. We publish their stories only because it helps us evangelize the cause to more people which is necessary to fulfill our mission.

10. How would the donors know if the treatment they paid for has been successful?

We are in regular touch with the hospitals (our partners) to track the progress of our beneficiaries. Most of them are long term patients undergoing dialysis or some other treatment. If they are happy to provide a testimonial, we will post their details in the “Stories of Good” section in our web site. If you are interested to know the progress of any specific patient, you can reach out to us and we will be happy to provide more details.

11. Do I get the details of the beneficiary I will be supporting immediately? Can I contact the beneficiary?

We do not allow donors to contact/meet the beneficiaries since it is a sensitive matter and could be embarrassing for them too. We want to uphold the dignity even if they are poor and under-privileged.

12. Do you have a religious affiliation?

No. Giving What We Can is an alliance of people both religious and non-religious, united in the belief that where we can relieve suffering without having to make serious sacrifices, we should do so.

13. Can I discontinue the direct bank debits for my monthly contributions if I change my mind?

Absolutely, any time. We wish all our donors increase their contributions but if you want to discontinue the monthly contributions for whatever reasons, we respect your decision and will support you with the same.

“Giving is not only our duty but also a privilege. And we will do everything in our power to be transparent about our contributions”.
